Hip Complex Introduction :
•It is also known as Coxofemoral Joint. •It articulating with acetabulum of the pelvis and head of the femur.
•It is a diarthrodial ball & Sockel joint
•It has 3° freedom
•Flexion / Extension - Sagittal plane
•Abduction/Adduction - Frontal plane
•Medial/ Lateral Rotation- transverse plane
•Primary function of hip complex is to support the weight of the head, arms and trunk (HAT) Both in static and dynamic Position
Articular Surface :
1.Proximal Articular surface:
•Cuplike concave socket of the hip it is acetabulum.Located on the lateral aspect of the pelvic bone
•3 bones form pelvis (ilium, Ischium & Pubis)
2.Distal Articular Surface:
•Head of the femur rounded and covered with hyline cartilage.
•2/3rd part of acetabulum is filled with femur
•Femoral head is small, roughend pit called fovea or fovea capitis.
•Femoral head is medially, supercity and anteriorly.
